EXPLORE OUR IMPACTS
African Conservation Centre links science, conservation and people to sustain biodiversity in East Africa. As an African hub for cutting edge, community-based conservation practices, we bring together the people and resources needed for long-term solutions.
ELEPHANT CONSERVATION
The plight of elephants is dire. ACC’s programs reduce poaching, expand and protect migratory routes, and empower communities to protect this keystone species.
LAND CONSERVATION
ACC combines scientific and local knowledge to improve the management of natural resources while improving livelihoods, recognizing the health of the whole ecosystem – humans, wildlife and land.
COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE
ACC develops sustainable community enterprises related to eco-tourism, nature-based products, crafts, rangeland and wildlife management and environmental education.
CULTURAL HERITAGE
ACC’s programs celebrate and promote the Maasai’s pastoral traditions that reduce land degradation and permanent settlements and provide a landscape in which both people and wildlife can thrive.
LION CONSERVATION
By combining the latest science with Maasai knowledge and participation, we are increasing lion numbers across Kenya’s South Rift and decreasing human/lion conflicts.
CLIMATE CHANGE
ACC and its collaborators are mapping the distribution of animals, plants and human livelihoods; modeling their vulnerability to climate and land use change; and recommending mitigating & adaptive strategies.
