For more than 25 years, ACC has served as a champion of biodiversity conservation. Our approach is based on community interests and capacity, sound ecological science, and local leadership. ACC’s vision of empowering local communities as key actors in conservation has influenced the adoption of community-based models within the mainstream of Kenyan conservation, as well as wider regional and global shifts in conservation thinking and practice around the world. From its early pioneering role as a global leader of the emerging paradigm of community-based conservation to helping to build new grassroots organizations that put those ideas into practice, to helping to shape national conservation policies in Kenya, ACC carries a unique history and track record as an African conservation thought-and-practice leader.

Today, ACC is an East African Conservation Hub for cutting edge ecological research and community-based practices, connecting the people and resources needed for long-term solutions to increasingly complicated conservation challenges. We could not have gotten here without your generous support, especially through these past two years which have been challenging due to COVID.

On this GivingTuesday we are proud to share the news that we’ve finalized our strategic plan in collaboration with Maliasili. This plan will guide us in our next decade of growth with even more intention and impact across our main focus areas: Science & Indigenous Knowledge, Communities & Conservation, Policy & Practice, and Learning Hubs & Networks. We are also excited to share a sneak peek at our new website. Both the strategic plan and website will be launched in December — stay tuned!
