ADVERT: Seeking Education Outreach Officer for EU-ACC Connekt Project

The African Conservation Centre (ACC) in Kenya aims to conserve biodiversity in East Africa and beyond…

through the collaborative application of scientific and indigenous knowledge, improved livelihoods and good governance through development of local institutions. ACC is in partnership with Oikos EA in Tanzania for a trans-border project entitled CONNEKT Greater Kilimanjaro Initiatives. Supported by EuropeAid, the project aims to enhance conservation of wildlife, ecosystems and livelihoods trans-border through community participation.

Under this project, ACC is seeking to appoint an Education Outreach Officer. The area of operation will be the greater Amboseli Ecosystem. The applicant will need to be mobile, with a base at Noonkotiak Resource Centre in Amboseli. The woman or man applying needs to have a broad and flexible approach to educational aspects in relation to the environment and the driving forces of pastoralism and conservation.

Qualifications

• Complete secondary education and either teaching diploma or basic University degree or other appropriate experience

• Strong interest and motivation in conservation and in communication and appropriate design of educational approaches at all levels and age groups

• Languages: English, Swahili and Maa
